So we just released this album.
It’s probably unprofessional to post something so childish on my tumblr. But I really don’t like Coldplay so this is happening.
These are the lengths we go to to bring you good music.
And seriously kids, I have been in Great North for over four years and I’m still really excited about the music. More than ever, actually. May 26th. 11 tracks of New Stuff.
In other news I’ve been rock climbing a bit lately.
While people ask me how touring with Avalanche City in America is going, I have been replying “I didn’t actually get to go” and following up with an exciting piece of news: “But my other band Great North is finishing up our second album “Halves” for a May 26th release!”
And I’m not even lying. It’s about 18 month since our first album Newfoundland. I feel like we’ve learnt a little since then about crafting songs as a band. Our producer Dave has described it as “way more alternative and way more traditional” which is possibly somehow true.
Anyhow, I really love these eleven songs, and I can’t wait for your ears to agree.
Listen to the old to anticipate the new:
There is also a secret project underway. When the time is right, I’ll tell you. That is all for now.
does anyone know how I can buy the Avalanche City albums? I can’t buy them on U.S. itunes ))):

Hey dorks. I got this card because I bought 2012’s best album. Get yours!
Valentine’s Day Card for you! pre-order Islands album & get one. Says something funny inside.
Le keyboardist Ben is growing a little beard and trying to make it more obvious that he’s just a good-looking manboy, not a lady. Regretfully, he is not single.
Today we drove from Queenstown to Blenheim. That’s a good deal longer than say, Auckland to Wellington. Josh and Dave shared the drive.
We saw dolphins and seals and made lots of toilet stops. My mental list of places to return to with My Wife grew vastly.
My personal headphone soundtrack for the 12 hour drive today was as follows:
Disarm The Car Bomb - Islands
Kill Bill vol. 1 soundtrack
Satisfied Mind - Jeff Buckley’s cover
Everybody Here Wants You - Jeff Buckley
Ivo - Cocteau Twins
The Raven - Christopher Walken reading Edgar Allen Poe
Mister Jung Stuffed - Man Man
Hurly / Burly - Man Man
The Ballad Of Butter Beans - Man Man
Big Trouble - Man Man
Going Home - Leonard Cohen
Like U Crazy - Mates Of States
The Movies - Mercury Lane
Paper Hangar - mewithoutYou
( ) whole album - Sigur Ros
Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me - The Smiths
I Know It’s Over - The Smiths
Talking Shit About A Pretty Sunset - Modest Mouse
Fake Empire - The National
England - The National
I also listened to a Coldplay song to see if I still hated everything about their latest album (I still do).
Then Romelli and I shared an iPod and Van Seat Danced like mentals to my second listen of Man Man’s The Ballad Of Butter Beans.
I thought I might start regularly documenting my iPod trips, but it took too much effort today, so it may just be a one-off.
Tomorrow we play Blenheim. Tour’s nearly over. It’s been fun, but I’m missing home/wife/neice/Skyrim.
